1. The Department of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Management (DHM) was authorized by the Ministry of Education to provide undergraduate program and enrolment was started in 2010. Tourism and Leisure was the first course ever introduced in a Taiwan university.
2. Hospitality management was later introduced in 2010. The class can accommodate 45 students.
3. In 2013, the opening of master class authorized by the Ministry of Education to provide a better and more complete higher education system for students to do further study.
4. In order to provide better and more complete teaching contents, DHM decided to combine tourism and leisure management course with hospitality management course into one course, namely the Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Management in 2014.

【The unique features of Department of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Management】
The Department of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Management (DHM) started to enroll students for Tourism and Leisure course in 1997. This was the first course ever introduced in a Taiwan university. Post-graduate program was later introduced in 2013 to provide a better and more complete specialized course for students to do further study. There are two classes for undergraduate program: (1) Tourism and Leisure and (2) Hospitality Management. This course was introduced to meet the changing environment of tourism industry and to cultivate students with outstanding management skills and the required knowledge of the industry.
【Characteristics of the program】
This program integrates travel information, tourism management, culture industry and tourism development as elective courses to cultivate students with international perspectives, the ability to analyze industries, the ability to plan and the ability to combine theory and practice and apply into the workplace. The elective courses are separated into three areas as follow:
: Tourism aesthetic design, Tourism electronic reservation information system etc.
: Cooking class、restaurant and hotel management, cost control etc.
Culture and innovation
: Cultural and creative product design, brand management etc.
Internship and apprenticeship
: First year – 400 hours of apprenticeship during summer time, Fourth year – 1000 hours of internship in fall semester and 6 months of practical training comes after.
